In this Dev Blog episode, we take a detailed look at the transition to the new lighting system and share the technical details behind its implementation.

New Lighting System

We have completely reworked the rendering pipeline and implemented Deferred Rendering. This significantly improves visual quality without sacrificing performance and lays the foundation for more advanced lighting effects, as well as increasing the number of simultaneously active light sources.

Dynamic Shadows

All major light sources now cast real-time dynamic shadows.

- Proper shadow softness depending on distance

- More accurate silhouette geometry

- Improved stability without flickering

HDR Support

Full HDR (High Dynamic Range) support has been added to the project:

- Expanded brightness dynamic range

- More realistic highlights and glow

- Deep shadows without loss of detail

- Richer and more natural colors

Bright light sources now look truly bright, while dark scenes retain detail. Combined with the new lighting system, HDR enhances immersion and delivers a more cinematic visual experience.

Updated Particle System

The particle system has also received a major upgrade:

- Correct interaction with the new lighting

- Support for dynamic shadows

- Proper rendering in HDR scenes

Effects now blend naturally into the environment, respond to lighting changes in real time, and appear significantly more realistic.

In the video, we compare the old and new rendering systems, demonstrate the visual quality improvements, and showcase HDR performance across different scenes.
